Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2 NIV)
How true is this verse? Seriously! Read it again and ask yourself if you really understand what it means. Lets break this verse down. You have to start by asking yourself if you believe every word in the Bible. If not…..then I would like to discuss what you think will happen to you after you take your last breath (pretty direct, I know, but that is the severity of importance that comes with that question). If so…..then what does the word “carry” mean to you? I am far from being a theologian, and every one of my english teachers can vouch that my grammar is nothing short of horrendous. However, I know the definition of “carry.” Let’s get this game going by saying what it’s not. To carry is not to merely KNOW. Although sounding alike to carry is not to just CARE. To carry means to bear weight!
Did you catch that?
We all know how heavy our own burdens get in this life. The stress of life, bills, relationships, health, jobs, not to mention this incredible weight of knowing that God has charged us with the responsibility to teach the gospel to the entire world, gets to be very, very heavy!
SIDE NOTE BECAUSE THATS HOW MY BRAIN WORKS: wouldn’t it be nice if our burdens were somehow translated into actual weight. That way if you have to carry it around at least you would get some physical training at the same time. Wouldn’t that be a shift in the fashion paradigms! People would say wow that guy looks like he is chiseled out of stone. And others would then say, “Yeah poor guy, he must have a lot on his plate.”
Seriously though! If we as Christians are instructed to CARRY each others burdens don’t you think we should.
Carry is an action word. Pun intended, take it upon yourself to start helping others carry their burden. How much are you lifting? How much are you capable of lifting? Many people never achieve their full potential because they aren’t capable of it in their own mind! Don’t be your worst enemy, your reward is in heaven.
